As a report to his ancestors how the best guest of Zhou was welcomed, this long-lasting Chinese style hospitality is revived.
This poem decdcribed a meetup between Zhou King(周王) and Duke of Song(宋工). Per history books and this poem, Duke of Song was regarded as a guest rather than his servant by Zhou King, while the final conclusion in this poem still shows the Zhou domination over Song state.
