After months trapped in Chang’an city, the capital by the rebellions of Anshi Turmoil(安史之乱), Du Fu was separated from his family , which is 200km north to him. The initial horror and uncertainty were replaced with homesick and sadness of the endangered land.
This poem now become the song of a patriot in an endangered situation as well as homesick.This poem is also a key poem showing one of the Du Fu’s life turning point.Two words turned into daily words used even today by this poem, 国破, 家书万金.
春望
杜甫
国破山河在，
城春草木深。
感时花溅泪，
恨别鸟惊心。
烽火连三月，
家书抵万金。
白头搔更短，
浑欲不胜簪。
